When he got home from school, Jacob said he was going to be a Yes Kid. (Yesterday he overheard the term "yes man" and wanted to know what it meant.) Greg asked what he meant, and Jacob said he was going to do whatever we told him to do.
Fast forward about 45 minutes, and Jacob's sitting in time out crying because he took a card away from Benjamin and wouldn't give it back right away.
Greg: I thought you were going to be a Yes Kid.
Jacob: Well, I was thinking about starting that tomorrow....

Benjamin gets frustrated easily. He was mad at his trains because they weren't sticking together (the magnets confuse him sometimes). So, he threw a piece across the room.
Me: Benjamin, no. We don't throw trains.
He threw another.
Me: Benjamin! No! We do not throw trains.
He threw another.
Me: Benjamin!
Benjamin held another piece in the air.
Me: Benjamin, if you throw that piece, I will take away your trains.
Benjamin slid the train across the floor with force. But technically, it did not ever go into the air, so he did not throw it.

Vocabulary Lesson
Jacob and Aunt Sarah were watching Wall-E together this weekend. Wall-E was picking up a lot of trash. Sarah commented on how hard Wall-E was working and how he was picking up a lot. Jacob said, "Yes, he's working very diligently." He then paused and looked at Sarah. "Do you know what 'diligently' means?" She laughed and said, "Yes, but I'm impressed that you know, too!"

Happy Birthday, George Bob!
Well, Papa's posted one day late, so George Bob's will, too! :)
Happy Birthday, George Bob!
This morning, Jacob decided to give the cat a middle name -- Jane. :)

Bristle Blocks
George Bob and Papa gave Benjamin Bristle Blocks for Christmas. He loves them. Jacob likes to build imaginative things with them, like a rubber stamper with a bajillion different stamps.
This morning, Benjamin came up to me with a stack of blocks and said, "Castle." I said, "Did you build a castle?" He said, "Um hmmmm" and looked VERY pleased with himself.
I took couple photos of it.
A few minutes later he came up with another.
Benjamin: "Castle!"
Me: "Did you build another castle?"
Benjamin: "Yeah."
Me: "Wow, that's so great!"
Benjamin: "Picture?"
Hee hee.

Overheard: Trains
Jacob and Benjamin have been playing together all morning. It started around 7:30 this morning in their room. Jacob had been given strict orders to stay in bed until 8:30, but Benjamin woke up earlier. Instead of crying, Benjamin started talking. So he and Jacob were in there talking, goofing around, and throwing pacifiers and stuffed animals.
After finishing breakfast, they played Super Savers, wooden blocks, trucks, and now trains. Playing anything that requires patience doesn't usually work when Benjamin is involved. He usually destroys whatever you're assembling before you have a chance to finish. So, blocks? Benjamin kept knocking them over. Trains? He takes Jacob's train cars and pulls up the track.
Jake: Benjamin! Look, I'm not upset with you. I just want to put my trains in order. So can you just relax?
It worked for a couple of minutes.
As I typed this out, Benjamin got in the middle of the track circle and pulled the entire thing apart.
Poor Jacob.

Janet and Don's Wedding
Janet and Don got married on Saturday. It was a sweet, simple ceremony. Unfortunately, I had my camera on the wrong setting for most of the time we were there. My very simple, basic digital camera has several settings. I don't know what most of them are for, but apparently "P" is for when you want your photos to be blurry, smeared images.
Benjamin sporting his little suit outfit. He was soooooo pleased with this.
After Greg got him dressed, he came running to me yelling, "Mama! Shirt! Mama! Shirt!"
My sweet boys in our front yard. Greg had a tie, Benjamin had a tie, so Jacob wanted a tie.
Well, Greg-sized ties are way too big, so we went for a bowtie (also very big, but ADORABLE!).
He's so cute.
Jacob and Brianna.
Our little family.
I'm not sure what he's about to say here, but it cracks me up.
Sword fighting with sticks.
Benjamin joins in. His stick's a little small!
(I know... That's what she said. There! Do you feel better now that I said it?)
Greg, Benjamin, Janet, Don, Jacob, Katy
Congratulations, Janet and Don (aka Mom & Don and Nana and Grandpa Don).
We couldn't be happier for you!
Happy Birthday, Aunt Sarah!
Jacob made Aunt Sarah's cake ALL BY HIMSELF. He mixed the ingredients and decorated with sprinkles.
Here's the card he made for her:
The Face of Despair
And sometimes the despair just takes over and it weighs you down. Poor little guy.
Easter Egg Hunt!
We spent Easter at George Bob and Papa's house. It was wonderful. The Easter Bunny was nice enough to leave eggs filled with candy around the house. Auntie Anne gave Jacob Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel and gave Benjamin a really cute Cheerios t-shirt.
Posting Photos Right Away is Boring!
Benjamin working out some tunes.
Benjamin can't wait until he's big enough to be in the big kid room.
Of course, if he wants to be somewhere, he usually finds a way.
Helping out around the house.
He actually fell asleep like this. Sweeping is hard work!
He was very pleased with the sandals.
Silly boy.
Have I ever mentioned that he's goofy?
Playing Mario Kart together.
Jacob and Brianna at a hockey game. I tried to teach Jacob to cheer when the players got into fights. There was only one, though. Fighting is okay in hockey!
Hoodies! Pants optional.
Looking out George Bob and Papa's hotel window. It was only a few minutes after this photo that I started thinking about windows falling out and all the what ifs.
Jacob being cheesy for the camera.
And laughing in the car.
