Poop, Poop Everywhere!

Benjamin pooped through his diaper, through his clothing, and all over his carseat today. It covered the seat and the straps, and even went through the strap holes to the underside of the carseat. I'm washing it right now. Taking it apart and wiping the plastic parts down probably took over half an hour (I'm not good at this). Add to this time to wipe Benjamin off and then bathe him... this is quite time-consuming! The real challenge will be when it comes time to put it all back together again. Here's the kicker -- there's a time limit! I have to pick Jacob up this afternoon. Wish me luck!

A Visit from Patty!

Patty from work visited today. She brought Benjamin a really adorable overalls outfit and she brought Jacob a super cool coloring shirt. It's a Thomas the Tank Engine shirt that Jacob can color with markers. When you wash it with warm water, the color goes away, and you can start again! Jacob LOVES the shirt. He was torn between wearing it tomorrow and having me wash it so he can color it again tomorrow. Coloring won out, though, so I'm washing it in the morning.

Car Talk

Jacob was just playing cars and driving them around. The drivers were apparently talking to each other. I think Jacob must have been listening to Car Talk on NPR with my parents last week. One of the drivers said, "Don't drive like my brother!"

Benjamin at Two Months!

Benjamin is two months old! He went to the doctor today and he weighs 13 pounds, 7 ounces, which puts him in the 90th percentile. He's 23 3/4 inches, which puts him in the 75th percentile for height. He has a tiny little head (Jacob did, too!) at 39 cm -- 25%.

County Fair Time!

We went to the County Fair yesterday. It started out with my parents, my sister, Greg, Jacob, Benjamin, Sarah, and me. It was WAY too hot for a baby. So, Benjamin and I left when my parents and sister left.

Jacob had a GREAT time, as he was finally big enough to go on a few of the rides. Riding a motorcycle with a girl!
On the bee!
On a super cool dragon.
Down a HUGE slide!
On a little boat.
Some kind of missile type thing.

On a VERY tall ferris wheel with dad.
Mmmm. Cotton candy at the end of the day!

Jacob in St. Louis Part II

It hasn't even been a full 24 hours yet since he left, but I miss my little guy. I thought it would be peaceful and quiet. It's actually just painfully quiet. But, he's having a good time (I got another call from him while he was shopping at Target with George Bob). It's nice to be able to rest more and I have a lot of work to get done this week, but I will be happy when Saturday comes.

Jake's Trip to St. Louis

On Thursday, Jacob said he wanted to go to George Bob and Papa's house, so he called and asked George Bob to come get him. We (Greg and I) would like them to be here on the 19th so we can go out with some friends (hooray!), so we asked if they could bring him back on the 19th and stay the night. So, my wonderful parents came to Indianapolis today to pick Jacob up for a week of fun in St. Louis.

We ate at Castleton Grill (yum!), but didn't get to have our favorite server, Cindy. It's really not quite the same experience without her. But, we did get to have a little of their delicious potato wedges.

Jacob went off with George Bob and Papa, happily settled with his "babies" -- Wally, Charlie, and Timmy.

I've only had one call from Jacob so far, and that was mainly so he could ask me what his whole name is and what is full name is. (He knows.)

A Ridiculous Obsession with Shoes

So... we spend more on our kids' shoes than we do on our own. I am not a shoe person. I don't really care about shoes (which is obvious to anyone who cares to glance footward). I buy cheap shoes because I treat them horribly.

When it comes to my boys, however, I love shoes. I love those cute, tiny little feet. I can't resist walking by the kids' shoe department in Von Maur every time we visit the mall.

I'd been eyeing a pair of Kenneth Cole shoes for Jacob for quite some time. When I asked, I was told that they only had up to a toddler size 10 and then from a big kid size 2 and up. Jacob wears a toddler 11. Saddened, I was left to only gaze longingly at the shoes each time we went by.

A couple of weeks ago, I was doing my customary walk-by and noticed that the shoes were MISSING!!! After lamenting the fact that I hadn't purchased them in a larger size for Jacob (and Benjamin, hopefully) to wear later, I saw that they were on the CLEARANCE table. Woo hoo! The sales guy told me they had them (velcro style) in a size 12, but not a size 11. Apparently the other sales people thought I was only interested in the laces style. So, I happily bought the size 12.

I went back again today to see if they'd been marked down any more. Nope, but they're still pretty cheap for Kenneth Cole shoes, and they were running out of many of the sizes. So, we have a velcro size 8 and a lace up size 1. I'm hoping I luck out and that Jacob and Benjamin will both be wearing the shoes at the same time at some point. :)

That was a lot of writing about shoes. Sorry.

The Coolest Socks Ever

We bought them at Old Navy. I wish I'd bought every pair in every size. They're wonderful. They fit well and stay on, and considering how often Jacob wears them (every time they're clean and in his drawer), they've held up well. I also like that they have the size written on the bottom.

Jacob loves his "stripey" socks. He also has a pair in a cream color.

Defiance is Tiresome

On Monday, Jacob said he wanted to go to the mall playground. I said we could if he behaved. We ran out of time on Monday, but I said we'd go the next day (with good behavior, of course). Well, that didn't happen. So, on Tuesday, we said if he behaved all day, we'd go on Wednesday. Nope. It's hot and muggy outside. We haven't done much this week fun-wise. So, today I was smart. I didn't mention anything about the mall (and we did still have an "episode"). Tomorrow we're going to the mall no matter what, though.

Random Photo: Benjamin's Still Face Down

Obviously this isn't the photo of him face down... but I just wanted to tell you that he was doing it again today.
