Jacob: Will I ride the bus to school when I'm bigger?
Dad: Yes, when you are almost 7 years old, you will go to [name] elementary school.
Jacob: I will be sad to go to that school.
Dad: You will? Why?
Jacob: I will miss my teachers.
Dad: Well, you will have new teachers at your new school, and I'm sure they will be good teachers, and you will like them.
Jacob: No, not like Miss Bonnie and Miss Janice. They are the best teachers ever, so I will be sad.

Jacob's New Grill and Benjamin's Nose
So, Jacob, lucky boy, had a massive cavity in his tooth. Most kids his age don't have this problem, because they have space between their teeth. Not Jake. Yesterday we went to the pediatric dentist, who removed part of the pulp of his tooth and added a crown to protect it. A shiny, silver-colored crown.
The visit started with the dental assistant asking Jacob, "How are you doing?" He responded, "Fine, thank you. How are you doing?" I was SO PROUD of him! She was pretty tickled. They wouldn't let me sit with him during the actual procedure, but the dental assistant told me once they started him on the laughing gas, her turned into a Chatty Cathy. He told her all about the racetrack, and then they talked Power Rangers. She said he's going to be the black one and she's going to be the pink one. It's very possible that she chose pink with a little "guidance." I've been informed that my only choices are pink and yellow... the girl colors. Duh.
When we got home, Jacob looked at his tooth in the mirror (it's one of his back molars). "It looks like gold!" He was pretty impressed. I was a little concerned about how to handle this. I don't want him to be ashamed of his tooth at all, but I also don't want him to try for more! A lady at Jacob's karate class handled it perfectly... "That is a great new tooth! You'll have to brush it a lot to keep it shiny."
Perfect.

In other news, Benjamin is sick once again. He has a sinus infection, mild ear infections, and some other random virus (no, not the Swine flu... calm down, Dad!). My mom is here to save the day, though. She drove here yesterday afternoon and is at home tending to Baby B and all of his virus fussiness.
We know Benjamin's sick when he won't smile and doesn't want to eat. We see the ENT on Friday, and I will be very surprised if ear tubes are not in Benjamin's near future.

A Day at the Track
Greg won tickets to the racetrack during a radio call-in contest. He also won tickets to the Miller Lite party deck, but ended up giving them away to some lucky young'uns (legal young'uns) who could fully appreciate the beer, food, and scantily clad beer girls.
It was a beautiful afternoon. Very, very windy, but quite nice!

Fun and Games
We went to another birthday party on Sunday at Xscape. Jacob had a great time! Here is duckpin bowling... He held his arms up like this each time he let go of the ball, all the way until the ball hit the pins. :) It was REALLY hard not to laugh out loud. It was so cute!
Concentrating hard. This is a serious game! He ended up with an 80.

All About the Baby!
Benjamin is happily taking a few steps here and there. He is such a happy baby! He is constantly making us laugh, with his squawks, screams, squeals, and bubbly laughter.
Our front bedroom currently serves as our toy room/guest room. We have a gate up to keep Benjamin away from all of the toys with small parts (Jacob's trains, cars, puzzles, etc.). Benjamin likes to stand at the gate and yell at Jacob. He is determined to get in, and I don't think it will be very long before he succeeds. Jacob keeps a stool on either side of the gate so he can get in and out. Benjamin has now taken to standing on the stool (he still can't quite get over the gate) and leaning. One day soon...
When Benjamin wants to be held, he often pats the back of the person holding him. It is so sweet! He loves to grab my hand and pull it so it cradles his face. He'll hold it there until he falls asleep in the car (when Greg is driving).
Benjamin loves his pacifiers. One in his mouth and one in each hand. I think we might be able to move away from them soon, though, because he's really starting to love his blanket. He uses it as a pillow.
Jacob was a very tidy eater at this age. When he finished eating, there was no food on the floor. There was no food on the side of the high chair, on his shirt, or even on his fingers, usually. Benjamin is the type to stick his fingers in his mouth, grab some food, and then smear it in his hair, the sides of the high chair, and in his ears.
He usually wakes up at 11:30 p.m. and again around 2:30 or 3. Maybe you had children who were sleeping through the night at this age, but compared to Jacob's sleep patterns at this age, we are very happy.

#7
I spotted tooth #7 yesterday! It's on the top on his left side, right next to the front two teeth. So, I would assume #8 will appear shortly. This could explain all of the drool and snot! (Pretty picture, huh?)

Happy Baby
It's just a cheap plastic basket with wheels. Jacob LOVED it as a baby. Greg used to wheel him around the room, sometimes attaching a belt so it could sort of whip around. Jacob (and his cousin, Brianna) used to laugh and laugh.Benjamin had his first turn in the basket the other night, and he's a fan.
