Jacobisms

Last Sunday, Jacob and his cousins were outside playing. A plane flew over, making a lot of noise. The other kids were all exclaiming things like, "Look! It's a HUGE plane!" "Yeah, look at the HUGE plane! It's so big!"

Jacob couldn't let his cousins be so completely wrong. "It's not big! It's just flying low."

I flashed back to when Jacob was two and outside with Brianna. A plane was flying above. Brianna said, "I hear a motorcycle!" Jacob said (in a very matter-of-fact way), "No, it's not a motorcycle. It's an airplane." (I also thought about when Keaton said something about a dragon, and Jacob corrected him, saying, "No, that's not a dragon. It's a dinosaur.")

Me: Jake, just finish your dinner.

Jacob: My stomach is totally distended. I won't eat any more.

Oil Changes and New Tires

His face says something like, "Puh-lease. This is for babies." A minute later, however, he was happily bouncing to "Old MacDonald."
The makings of Conan's successor... 30 or 40 years from now. Watch out, Conan!

I think pretty eyes make up for snot. Right?
Still sporting the Conan 'do.
Jacob made me a pretend meal from his restaurant. You know he's ready to play when he puts on his TGI Friday's hat. It's an interesting restaurant. When you order, he pretty much shoots down anything you come up with. "We don't have that." And then chooses something for you. If he likes you, he'll throw in a fish. Today he gave me French toast with fish. Mmmmm....
Sometimes pretend meals are more fun under the table.

Here's Jacob showing off the party bag favors from Amelia's birthday party. This kid makes me laugh.
We dropped both cars off for an oil change today. We walked to a nearby mall (same parking lot), had some lunch, and let the kids play. We ate at a place called "Chicken and Wings," or something like that. I think it should have been called, "We Have Everything. Seriously." Chicken strips, chicken nuggets, philly cheesesteak sandwiches, hot wings, various fish filets, chicken fried rice, egg rolls, hot dogs, burgers... I don't remember everything, but it was insanely varied. The cashier (and possibly owner?) came out and talked to us. She was very happy to see another Korean. This happens a lot, but I guess it does make sense. I mean, if you were far away in another country, wouldn't it be comforting to meet someone from the U.S.?

Anyway, the kids' play area was DISGUSTING. They're always so dirty. Yuck. I have to block that from my mind now. I had three containers of hand sanitizer in my purse/diaper bag.

Benjamin was definitely not in the mood for a photo.

After the mall, we wandered to Target (connected to the mall) and spent some time there. Benjamin got a small toy dump truck and Jacob got a small airplane. The car place called to tell us that my car needed new tires. We knew we'd need them at some point this summer, so we told them to go ahead and do it. We took our time in Target, but still had some time to kill at the car shop. Benjamin was gleefully pushing the stroller around.

The super shiny floors were AWESOME for cars. The cars were super fast on the floor and kept going for much longer than at home. Luckily, the shop guys were very nice and just found this amusing.

Running off with the stroller again.
When we got home, the kids had some play time. I soaked some pinto beans and let them simmer with onion and garlic, made some tortillas, and sauteed some beef, yellow peppers, and onion. It was tasty. Making dinner is so much more satisfying when it's from scratch. Too bad that takes so much longer! It's definitely not an option on weeknights.

Benjamin has been anti-sleep for the last couple of days. He doesn't want to sleep in his crib at all. It's exhausting.

The kids are sleeping. I'm happy.

Okay, just kidding... As I was writing, Benjamin woke up.

Funny Faces

Jacob and his socks. The louder, the better!

Jacob in his kid chair, looking pretty big.
Benjamin in the kid chair, feeling pretty cool.
Making funny face #1.
And funny face #2.
Jacob's the photographer for this one. We tried smiling, and he said, "NO! Make a funny face."
And then demonstrated a funny face of his own. He wins.
At Amelia's birthday party. Jacob got to swing at a pinata.
Watching a bigger kid demolish the pinata.

Benjamin loves the neighbor's toy car. He can't really reach to make it move, though.
The kids picking up candy.
Jacob, Brianna, and Benjamin at Uncle Steve's birthday celebration.
Jacob and Brianna took off in the Jeep.
A line of kids.
Jacob wasn't really sure how to make the Jeep turn. So, here he is doing it "manually."

Aunt Sarah and Baby B.
And another funny face from Benjamin.
