This is how Greg answered the door. As Kid Rock. And he said, "What do you want?" in a gruff, unfriendly voice. A few kids were really excited and said, "Uncle Danny!!!" Oh my.
Benjamin was very excited about all of this. It took a long time before he caught on that the "thank you" was for the person handing out candy, not for me after he came back from getting candy.
Batman stood guard over the neighborhood and passed out candy during quiet moments.
Do you see how proud he is? He was so impressed with the process.
Jake is an old pro at this trick-or-treating business. Benjamin, however, was more apprehensive at times. He wasn't sure about the Scream costume we saw. He's also not old enough to understand that some people just don't want to hand out candy. He'd stand at those doors yelling, "HELLO!!!" It amused me.
A super scary red phantom!!! Rawrrrrr!!!
Really, it went much better than I thought it would. I thought Ben would last a few minutes outside and then return home to hang out with Greg. He stuck it out! When we got home, Greg had scary music playing. Benjamin froze, listened for a minute, and then started crying. He quickly recovered, though, and helped Greg and Jacob greet kids at the door. The beautiful thing about trick-or-treating with a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old is that we left the house at 6 and we were back in by 6:45. We re-gave any sticky/gummy candy (Jake can't have them due to crowns on his teeth), which greatly increased the contents of our candy bowl. And we might just have leftover Twix, Snickers, and Milky Ways. Sweet!
